Alternatively, you can call our dispensary between between 09:00 – 12:00 and 14:00 – 17:00.

Eligibility to become a dispensing patient

You may be eligible to become a dispensing patient at the Windrush Medical Practice and be able to collect your prescriptions from our dispensary.

Our dispensary is able to dispense medications to patients who live in rural areas. The legislation allows for this service to be used by patients who live more than one mile away from their closest pharmacy. This is beneficial to our patients who live in rural areas as they can avoid excessive travel to collect their prescriptions if they can collect their prescriptions soon after seeing their GP.

We are unfortunately limited to who we are able to dispense to from the Practice. To see if you are eligible, you may find your nearest pharmacy using the online NHS pharmacy locator. If you are more than one mile away from your nearest pharmacy, you may be eligible.

Frequently asked questions

How could I benefit from becoming a dispensing patient?

By becoming a dispensing patient, you can get your prescription quickly after your appointment with our GPs or nurses. This can save you travel time to a different pharmacy.

We anticipate that there will be less room for error and confusion with prescribing your medications if we are able to dispense for you on site.

Some prescriptions may occasionally go missing between the Practice and your pharmacy. By dispensing within the Practice, we may reduce missing prescriptions.

How do dispensing patients request repeat prescriptions?

You can request your repeat prescriptions by:

– Using our “Request a Repeat Prescription” form on Engage Consult
– Choosing “Request repeat prescription” on the NHS App homepage
– Dropping off a repeat prescription form or letter at our dispensary letterbox stating which medications you wish to receive and where you would like them to be sent

If we dispense medications for you at the Practice, please allow three working days before coming to collect your prescription.

If you collect your prescription from any other pharmacy, please allow five to seven working days before coming to collect your prescription.

Please note: we may only dispense medications that are displayed as repeat prescriptions on your request slip or medical record.

Additionally, we do not take repeat prescription requests via telephone. This is because we may not correctly hear which medications you would like to request, which could put you at risk if the wrong medication is issued.

How much do prescriptions cost at your dispensary?

Our prescription prices at our dispensary are the same that you would pay in any other pharmacy.

If you have any exemption from prescription charges, please bring proof of this when you collect your medicines.

We accept card payments at our dispensary.
