Social Prescribing is a service provided by Age UK Oxfordshire where you can talk with a trained professional to be linked with a range of local non-medical activities, opportunities, and support that can improve your health and well-being.
What is Social Prescribing?
Lots of things can make us feel unwell. Some of these are medical problems that need medical treatment, others are more about the difficulties we all face, at times, in our day-to-day lives.
These difficulties can include issues with work or studies, money worries or housing problems, loneliness or relationship issues, or difficulty in finding the time or motivation to make health choices.
Social Prescribers work with people aged 18+ and can support you to connect to all the different non-medical services, support, activities, and opportunities that exist locally and in your community. They work with you to find support that is tailored to your needs, and which could improve your health and wellbeing, helping you to life life to the full.

How does Social Prescribing work?
Social Prescribers provide a free service for all adults 18+ and work alongside GPs, nurses, and other members of primary healthcare to get you the support that you need.
Once you have contacted the team (or have been referred to them), one of the local Social Prescribers will be in contact to discuss what you would like help or support with. Together, you will find solutions and options that will help make a difference to you.
